Jacqueline Fernandez, a Sri Lankan actor who hails from Bahrain's Manama was raised in a multicultural family. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez is of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the oldest of two brothers and a younger sister. In the 1980s, her parents fled to Bahrain due to civil unrest in Sri Lanka. This is why she was both born and raised in Bahrain. After graduating from the schooling in Bahrain she won an Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue the Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. With a love of cultures and languages she also took part in the Berlitz school of languages, which is where she began to learn Spanish and improve her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. After her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone stepped into the world of television as host of a TV show on Sri Lankan business known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father is badminton-player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. As a teenager Padukone was a participant in numerous championships for national badminton. However, she resigned from the sport when she decided to be a professional fashion model. Padukone is of Mangalorean heritage and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is a village located in Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend, who retired in the 80s. She has a mother who runs a travel agency also comes from this village.
